🔥Miniatures That Endure: Ashen Whispers 004 Coming Soon – You Are Not the Only One
Hey friends 👋,
For previous episodes Click Here.
After years painting miniatures, I’ve come to realize one thing — the act of bringing a miniature to life is not just a hobby. It’s a choice. Some people dive in, brush in hand, ready to endure the challenge. Others ignore their miniatures, letting them sit in boxes untouched. And some simply give up along the way.
This theme runs deep in the next chapter of our dark miniature fantasy project Prologue: Ashen Whispers 004 – Titled: You Are Not the Only One (coming soon 24/08/2024). Without spoiling anything, let’s just say the Guardian warns us that not everyone who is called for the Eternal Siege, remains.
And honestly… that’s as true for miniature painting as it is for life.
If you love the idea of painting, collecting, or owning unique minis — but don’t always have the time or experience — this article is for you. Let’s dive into how Episode 4 connects to the miniature hobby, and why this project is so close to my heart.
Why Miniatures Endure
Miniatures have been my passion for decades. From the first plastic kits I glued together back in the 80s, to the highly detailed resin sculpts I design and paint today, each miniature carries a story.
Unlike mass-produced collectibles, a painted miniature has character, individuality, and permanence. When you paint one, you’re not just applying color — you’re preserving a moment, an idea, or even a legend.
Episode 4 reminds us: some recruits will endure, others will forsake. The same goes for hobbyists: some finish what they start, others leave their miniatures in limbo. Which side are you on?
From Design to Miniature Reality
Lore Turned into Miniatures
The Ashen Whispers is a video prologue to my long-imagined project for now Code named Eternal Siege. With Ashen Whispers I am hoping to give you bits of lore — myth, legend, taken from real history to form a grim dark world where you will be able to give live to your miniatures. With a wide insperation taken from popular games like Warhammer 40k and Trench Crusade, but MOSTLY from fortifications, forgotten tunnels, history and whispers of legends, heroes and forsaken… all of it inspires the sculpts that I am currently working on in the hopes to bring to you. When I sit down at my 3D modelling software, I’m not just making shapes; I’m creating physical echoes of history and a story that’s been simmering for centuries.
Each miniature design is part of this process. For Episode 4, we explore not just heroes, but those who turned away — “the numb, the cowardly, the unknowing, and the forsaken.” Designing figures that embody these themes is both exciting and deeply symbolic.
Sculpt to Print to Painted Miniature
Once a design is finished, it becomes a resin print. The raw resin is fragile, pale, and ghost-like. Only when it’s painted does it truly become a miniature worth showing on the tabletop.
This process is where my 35 years of painting come in. Shading, layering, weathering, blending — it’s a craft that takes time and patience. A raw model may take a few hours to print but painting it into something breathtaking can take 30 to 50 hours of careful work.
And not everyone has that kind of time — which is where dressart3d.com – Unique 3D Printed Painted Miniatures & merch comes in.
Episode 4 – You Are Not the Only One
The new video, Ashen Whispers 004 – You Are Not the Only One, explores a chilling truth: not everyone stays the course. You will encounter those like you that however will oppose not help you.
- Some ignore the call entirely (the numb).
- Some abandon the fight (the cowards).
- Some are tempted unknowingly (the unknowing).
- And some choose willingly to forsake themselves (the forsaken).
The Guardian’s words are a warning — and a mirror. In our hobby, too, we make choices. Do we abandon half-painted models? Or do we endure, finish them, and breathe life into them?
When I look back over my shelves, each miniature I completed stands as proof that I chose to keep going. That’s what Episode 4 is about: endurance, choice, and the cost of turning away.
